Clwyd West AM Darren Millar had a blast from the past today when he paid a visit to his old secondary school – Abergele’s Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan.
Darren made the visit to talk to Year 11 pupils about his role as an Assembly Member and while there caught up with school cook Anwyl Teal, who is retiring on Friday after 40 years working as a school cook - firstly at St Elfod's School, Abergele and then at Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan.
Darren said:
"It is always good to go back to Emrys ap Iwan, a place which holds many happy memories for me. I enjoyed talking to the Year 11 pupils, they asked some challenging questions and I’m delighted that they are showing a keen interest in my work as a local AM.
"It was also special to meet Anwyl again - she was preparing meals at the school when I was there! She is retiring to take care of her 102 year old mum and I wish her all the very best for a long a happy retirement."
