Clwyd West AM Darren Millar was joined by representatives of Abergele’s Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan at a Senedd event to celebrate 10 years of Funky Dragon, the Children and Young People's Assembly for Wales.
Funky Dragon is a peer-led organisation which provides opportunities for young people up to the age of 25 to have their voices heard on issues that affect them. It works closely with the Welsh Assembly Government and youth forums run by unitary authorities, enabling it to influence decision making at different political levels.
Matt Walker of Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan, who is one of the three Funky Dragon Grand Council Representatives for Conwy, and Linda Taverner, Chair of Governors at Emrys ap Iwan, joined Darren for the Tuesday evening event to mark the milestone occasion.
Darren said:
“For 10 years now Funky Dragon has been providing under 25 year olds with the opportunity to get their voices heard on issues which affect them, particularly by the Welsh Assembly Government, and it was great to celebrate this achievement on Tuesday.
“I was particularly pleased to be joined by Matt and Linda, who do a sterling job ensuring that the voices of young people in Conwy are heard.”
