Responding to the news that neglect led to man’s death at mental health unit in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board, Darren Millar MS, Shadow Minister for North Wales, said:
“This is an incredibly sad case and my heart goes out to Ben's loved ones.
"Things like this should not be happening at a Health Board that has been subject to Welsh Government Special Measures and targeted intervention for such a long time.
"It is abundantly clear that the Welsh Government is incapable of delivering the improved mental health services that we need to see in North Wales. We need an independent inquiry to give bereaved families the answers that they deserve.”
Sam Rowlands MS, Shadow Health Minister, said:
“This is such a tragic case which was completely avoidable.
“It is scandalous this latest lapse of care from the health board after decades of missed opportunities, and North Wales residents will ask how many more of these missed opportunities must the families suffer through before lessons are learned.
“The Welsh Conservatives want to see our Welsh NHS fully resourced with every penny that comes from the UK Government for health spent on health.”
