Commenting on the news that demand for neurodiverse diagnosis referrals in North Wales has doubled in the space of only a few years up to 400 a month, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for North Wales, Darren Millar MS said:
“The neurodevelopmental service in North Wales is over-stretched and under-resourced with unacceptable waiting times for children which is having a massive impact on their education.
"These services must be prioritised by the Welsh Government and the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board so that children can access the support that they need. A failure to do so is letting down a generation of young people and robbing them of their future potential.
“Labour Ministers are distracted by plans for more politicians and speed limits instead of addressing the real concerns of the people of Wales."
James Evans MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Mental Health said:
“We need to see parents and their children supported through what is such a difficult time for them, that delays and long waits will only worsen – in Labour-run Wales, their needs do not feel like a priority.
“The Welsh Conservatives would spend the full uplift received for health on our Welsh NHS and enact a substantial workforce plan to recruit the staff needed to tackle these long waits.”
