Clwyd West MS Darren Millar paid a visit to Ruthin Community Hospital last week to meet with staff and volunteers.
In recent years, the hospital has undergone a radical upgrade, transforming it into a modern health and wellbeing hub, fit for the 21st century.
The hospital, which has stood in the town for well over a hundred years, now provides residents in Ruthin and beyond with a one-stop-shop for their health and wellbeing.
Darren paid a visit to meet staff, including Hospital Matron Hayley Jones, and to discuss challenges they are currently facing.
He also met with volunteers, including Morfudd Jones and Nerys Roberts, Chair and Secretary of the Ruthin Hospital League of Friends.
Speaking after his visit, Darren said:
“Ruthin Community Hospital really is a great asset to the town, providing a first-rate service to many people in Ruthin and the surrounding areas.
“The £4m investment a few years back really has transformed the place and patients in Denbighshire are lucky to have such an excellent medical facility on their doorstep.
“I had a very informative, useful meeting with staff and gained a greater insight into their work and the pressures they face. Working in the NHS has its challenges, and my visit was a good opportunity to discuss these with the staff members.
“I also met with the wonderful volunteers at the hospital and learnt more about the vital contribution Ruthin Hospital League of Friends are making to the hospital through the support and services they provide.
“There is no doubt that Ruthin Community Hospital would not be the success it is without these committed staff members and volunteers, and I thank each and every one of them for the invaluable work they are doing for the benefit of local communities in and around Ruthin.”
