Commenting on his exchange with the Trefnydd in the Senedd today, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for North Wales, Darren Millar MS said:
“Last year the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service achieved a great milestone. Thanks to the hard work and incredible dedication of our Welsh firefighters there were zero fire-related deaths. Unfortunately, that record is at risk due to plans by the Fire Authority to downgrade cover in Rhyl, Deeside and Wrexham.
“There was no engagement with the Fire Brigades Union prior to the development of these deeply unpopular plans so it is essential that the Welsh Government updates its guidance on service change to ensure that the Union and other stakeholders are involved prior to consultation in the future.
“The North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority must listen to the concerns of the FBU and people across North Wales and modify its plans.”
