Shadow Minister for North Wales and Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has commended the success of a Llandudno -based distillery which has been open in the town just 12 months.
Darren recently visited Penderyn Distillery in his Shadow Ministerial role.
Penderyn Distillery is the home of Welsh Whisky and produces award-winning single malt whiskies and spirits in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons in South Wales and at their distillery in Llandudno, which opened in 2021. The company is planning on opening a third distillery in Swansea this winter.
During his visit, Darren met with Dafydd Peric-Smith, the Distillery Manager, who gave him a tour of the facility and presented him with a bottle of The Headliner, a bottle of whiskey produced as part of Penderyn’s Icons of Wales series which was inspired by Welsh politican and former Prime Minister, David Lloyd George.
Speaking afterwards Darren said:
“It was a real pleasure to visit Penderyn Distillery at their Llandudno base and to hear how the company is progressing.
“They have been in Llandudno only a short time, but I was pleased to hear that the business is going from strength to strength.
“With investment, inspiration, hard work, attention to detail, the finest barley, expert female distillers and the best American oak bourbon casks, Penderyn Whisky has quickly gained a worldwide reputation for its range of whiskies, winning over 70 Double Gold/Gold/Masters awards en route. Today Penderyn is now very much part of the world whisky conversation, and is available in over 45 countries.
“I congratulate the company on all they have achieved to date and wish them continued success in Llandudno.”
The Llandudno distillery is based on Lloyd Street and is open 7 days a week. Tours and Masterclasses are available.
