Clwyd West MS Darren Millar had a blooming great time when he visited a church event at the weekend which celebrated the lives of inspirational Welsh women.
Darren called at the Llannefydd Church Flower Festival on Friday where, as well as admiring the various flower displays, he enjoyed looking at the displays illustrating inspirational Welsh women.
The event was organised by the Friends of Llannefydd Church to raise funds and awareness of the small parish church which has been under threat of closure.
Darren said:
“I thoroughly enjoyed calling into this wonderful flower show, the theme for which was Inspirational Welsh Women. It was very clear that a great deal of hard work had gone into the both the floral displays and the displays celebrating the lives of iconic Welsh women including Shirley Bassey, Betsi Cadwaldr, Cranogwen, Cartin Finch, St Winifred and Llannefydd's own Katheryn of Berain, amongst others.
“This ancient church was founded by St. Nefydd in the fifth century and was mentioned in the Lincoln Taxation of 1291. It was restored in 1859, and again early in the twentieth century. It is now dedicated to St Nefydd and to St Mary the Virgin. It really is a beautiful church and I would encourage people to go and visit and show your support. To lose it would be a huge loss to not only all who use it, but also the wider community.”
