The Welsh Labour-led Government’s Budget represents a ‘missed opportunity’ according to the Welsh Conservatives.
Funding for the Welsh Government at its highest levels ever and announcements in the recent UK Budget have provided an extra £550 million for the Welsh Government to spend.
The UK Chancellor has also committed to investing £120 million in a North Wales Growth Deal, a commitment yet to be matched by Welsh Ministers.
Speaking today, Clwyd West AM Darren Millar, said:
“This budget represents a missed opportunity for Wales.
“With record levels of funding and rising budgets to come the Welsh Labour Government could have taken the opportunity to back businesses, invest in the next generation and do more to support those in need.
“But instead, we have a budget which stifles business, cuts funding for our schools, and fails to invest in preventative services for the vulnerable.
“It is a budget from a government that, after 20 years, has run out of steam and run out of ideas. It is unimaginative and disappointing, and it fails to meet the needs of the people of Wales.”
