Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has applauded an interactive project which is exciting and inspiring pupils at a Colwyn Bay school.
Darren visited Ysgol Nant y Groes in Colwyn Bay on Friday to see the ‘Bright Sparks’ project in action.
Funded by The Scottish Power Foundation, ‘Bright Sparks’ is an interactive project that uses professional actors KS2 pupils schools to enthuse pupils about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Delivered in partnership with Theatr Clwyd, the programme consists of two half-day sessions delivered free to schools across North Wales for Year 3/4 (7/8 yr. olds).
Darren said:
“I very much enjoyed visiting Ysgol Nant y Groes and seeing youngsters taking part in the Bright Sparks project.
“It is a high energy learning experience for pupils with fun characters which helps to engage the children and promote teamwork.
“Skills in STEM-related subjects are key requirements for a number of careers, ranging from healthcare and medical, engineering, life sciences and construction to design, tourism, retail and financial services, and it is great that pupils are getting the opportunity to study them in such a fun, interactive way.”
