Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar will be holding a public meeting in Llanarmon-yn-Iâl next month to discuss problems with access to high speed broadband in the area.
The meeting will take place on Thursday December 7th at 11.30am in The Old Schoolroom.
Darren has been contacted by dozens of residents and local businesses regarding the rollout of high speed broadband and the lack of progress by BT/Openreach in the locality.
The meeting will be chaired by Darren and attended by Denbighshire County Councillor Martyn Holland, representatives from BT/Openreach and the Welsh Government Minister responsible for Broadband.
Darren said:
“Broadband connectivity and the need for high speed communication is one of the issues that is repeatedly raised with me in this part of rural Denbighshire.
“Residents have been crying out for Superfast Broadband for a long time, and while BT have made many promises regarding the timescale for its delivery, many of these have been broken. Digital infrastructure is transforming our way of life and the way we do business - we can not afford to let rural Denbighshire lag behind.
“The need for households and businesses to have access to next generation broadband in the twenty first century is increasingly important. Lack of access can be detrimental for a child's education and can severely disadvantage local businesses. More than ever, high speed communications are crucial in the fast-moving and changing world that we work and live in.
“This meeting will give residents the opportunity to air their grievances.”
Cllr Martyn Holland said:
“It is unacceptable that many households and businesses in this part of Denbighshire are still not able to access high speed broadband services under the Superfast scheme.
“Too many businesses and households in Llanarmon-yn-Iâl and the surrounding area have gone without Superfast broadband for far too long and it is crucial that action is taken to ensure that people in all parts of the constituency are connected to this fast service as soon as possible.”
