Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has welcomed news that a school in his constituency is to benefit from the latest round of National Lottery funding.

National Lottery Awards for All has announced 422,926 for projects to build stronger communities.

Recent research commissioned by Eden Communities and funded by Big Lottery Fund has put a figure of 32 billion against the annual cost of the UK’s disconnected communities. The research reveals the enormous annual cost to public services of social isolation and disconnected communities.

However thanks to players of the National Lottery, the Big Lottery Fund are making grants across Wales to enable people to develop connections and friendships to improve their health and happiness.

Ysgol Eirias in Colwyn Bay has been awarded a grant of 4,989 to fund IT equipment.

Welcoming news of the grant, Clwyd West AM Darren Millar said:

“I am pleased to hear that Ysgol Eirias are to benefit from this latest round of funding. They will use the funding to enable pupils to use digital technology to improve health and diet and increase physical activity.”
