Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar has welcomed news that a Colwyn Bay project for people with anxiety and mental health issues has benefitted from the latest round of National Lottery funding.

In September 2017 the Big Lottery Fund distributed 217,784 from the National Lottery to projects across Wales, including Ricochet Enterprises Ltd in Colwyn Bay, which has been awarded 4,500.

Ricochet is a new project for young adults age 19 -24, providing 12 special workshop events for those who are suffering from anxiety and mental health issues.

Darren said:

“I am delighted that Ricochet Enterprises have received a slice of this latest cash sum from the National Lottery. They will use the grant to deliver 12 workshops to enable those experiencing anxiety and mental health issues to build their confidence and self-esteem. The money will part-fund workshop facilitator fees, venue hire, marketing materials and web/social media design.

“Many groups in my constituency have been fortunate enough to benefit from Lottery funding over the years and the good news is that community groups can now apply for bigger awards - from just 300 up to 10,000 per project - from the National Lottery Awards for All programme.

“The new application process is already proving popular with community groups and charities and this month 44 projects were awarded grants and ten of those were for more than the previous ceiling of 5,000.”

“It’s great to see communities embracing the new opportunities on offer with Awards for All and applying for grants across the whole range of available options. The important thing is that the scheme offers the flexibility to give the grant that the community needs be that 300 or 10,000.”
