Darren Millar, Welsh Conservative AM for Clwyd West and dedicated whippet owner has spent the day visiting Bryn-y-Maen, the RSPCA’s animal centre in Upper Colwyn Bay.
Mr Millar said: "As a dog owner I was really interested to see at first hand the work RSPCA is doing to rehabilitate and rehome unwanted animals in Wales.
"Bryn-y-Maen does a great deal of hard work to promote animal welfare and I was struck by the effort and dedication of the staff and volunteers. Like most animal welfare organisations it is busier than ever at the moment and they deserve as much support as possible."
The centre has 35 kennels, 36 cat pens, 18 rabbit pods and four ferret pods, as well as room for small animals, farm animals and wildlife. It provides specialist care for domestic and farm animals and staff often look after injured wildlife before release or transfer to a dedicated wildlife centre.
Centre manager Becky Lloyd said: "We were delighted to be able show Darren around Bryn-y-Maen and it meant a great deal to us that he took such a keen interest in our work.
"We were glad to have the opportunity to explain the issues we come across and the challenges we face on a daily basis."
