A pupil at Ysgol Betws yn Rhos has scooped the top prize in Clwyd West MS Darren Millar’s annual Christmas card competition.
Every year, Darren invites school pupils across his constituency to design a Christmas card, which he sends out across the local area. This year’s theme was ‘My Favourite Christmas Movie’ and hundreds of entries were received.
Daniel Hatfield, a year 6 pupil at the school, was selected as this year’s winner, for his card featuring Kermit the Frog and Tiny Tim from the Christmas classic, ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’.
On Monday, Darren paid a visit to Ysgol Betws yn Rhos to congratulate Daniel on his success and present him with his prize, which included a family ticket for the Welsh Mountain Zoo.
Darren said:
“I was delighted to see the fantastic array of entries for this year’s competition, and, as always, selecting a final winner was a real challenge.
“My office team and I loved Daniel’s design. It is simple, but wonderfully drawn, instantly recognisable, and eminently Christmassy! I’m very proud to have his design on the Christmas cards I am sending out this season.
“It was great to meet Daniel in person at Ysgol Betws yn Rhos on Monday, to congratulate him on his fantastic design, and present him with his prize. Thank you to Daniel, headteacher Sian Wellsbury, and all the pupils and staff at the school for making me so welcome!”
