Commenting on the North Wales Transport Commission Progress Statement (January 2023), Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for North Wales, Darren Millar MS added:
“Another day, and yet another report exposing the lack of investment by the Welsh Labour Government in North Wales. Last week it was hospitals, this week it's our transport system.
"After 24 years in charge, Labour Ministers cannot shirk their failures for the growing North-South divide.
"It is insulting to tell people in North Wales to walk more while new roads are being built in South Wales and quarter of a billion has been frittered away on a loss making nationalised airport.
"Ministers must give North Wales a fair share of investment."
Welsh Conservative Shadow Transport Minister, Natasha Asghar MS said:
“This report has highlighted a series of failures by the Labour Government to connect North Wales with sufficient transport links.
“It is incredibly rich for the Labour Minister to imply that these shortcomings and failures to provide adequate transport in North Wales are an opportunity for people to walk more.
“The report points out that pavements and road crossing options are often poorly maintained or non-existent, making journeys by foot of the kind described by the Minister increasingly perilous. Labour need to cut out the spin and fix our transport system.”
