Clwyd West AM Darren Millar is keen to ensure that people in Clwyd West are aware of Safer Internet Day which will take place on February 11th, promoting safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people.
Last year Safer Internet Day, which is organised by Insafe was celebrated in over 90 countries worldwide. This year is the 11th anniversary of the campaign, the strapline for which is ‘Let’s create a better internet together’.
Darren, who in 2012 became an IWF (Internet Watch Foundation Champion), thereby supporting the work of IWF and its fight against child sexual abuse images and videos on the internet, said:
"Safer Internet Day offers the perfect opportunity to reach out to parents, carers, children and young people with important positive internet safety education messages. It provides a timely opportunity to reinforce internet safety education for all users.
"The fact that technology is now part of everyday life for children and young people is a great thing, but we must never get complacent about promoting the dangers of the internet.
"I urge all schools and parents in Clwyd West to use Safer Internet Day to educate our young people to be responsible when online. We can all play a part in helping to make the internet a great and safe place for all."
