Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed Conwy County Borough Council’s announcement that survey work required to make improvements to the roads at Sandy Cove, Kinmel Bay is due to begin.
In July the local authority secured £140,000 in funding as part of a pilot study to fund a plan to prepare for the development of unadopted roads on the estate.
Speaking following the announcement Darren said –
“This is great news that I know residents in Sandy Cove will welcome.
“Survey work is the first step towards making the estate a safer, cleaner and more attractive place to live.
“I am delighted to see that the local authority are seeking to develop a plans to improve drainage, parking and electric vehicle charging points on Sandy Cove as well as improving the quality of the road surfaces.
“With around 250 homes, the estate is probably the largest single community affected by poorly maintained unadopted roads in Wales.
"For too long residents with mobility problems have bene trapped in their homes and socially isolated due to the state of these roads.
“I have been calling for improvements on this estate for two decades and I am delighted to see that things are moving forward but there is still a long way to go so I will continue to work with the local authority and Welsh Government until the roads are upgraded and adopted.”
The survey work is due to be completed by March 2022.
