Clwyd West AM Darren Millar witnessed creative youngsters in action when he visited them in their new school premises last week.
Darren called at the newly opened Ysgol Pen Barras in Ruthin to see the ‘Lead Creative School Scheme’ in action.
Funded by the Arts Council for Wales and Welsh Government, the Lead Creative Schools Scheme aims to promote new ways of working in schools, providing the opportunity to develop an innovative and bespoke programme of learning designed to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
It’s about the school and the particular learning challenges that it is facing. A Lead Creative School will have access to creative people, skills and resources to support them and to address these challenges.
Ysgol Pen Barras, is one of five schools in Clwyd West to benefit from the scheme, the others being Rhos Street CP School, Ysgol Babanod Mochdre, Ysgol Borthyn and Ysgol Llanddulas.
Darren said:
“This is a fantastic scheme and I am extremely pleased that five schools in my constituency are benefitting from it.
“I very much enjoyed seeing the children at Ysgol Pen Barras taking part in the scheme and also seeing their impressive new premises.”
The new 11.2m schools building on the Glasdir estate in Ruthin is shared with Rhos Street School and opened earlier this month.
