Clwyd West MS Darren Millar paid a visit to a GP surgery in Ruthin last week to talk to the doctors about the pressures facing primary care and thank them for the work that the surgery does to care for local residents.
Darren called at Plas Meddyg Surgery, which is situated on Station Road in the town centre and offers a wide range of medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, anticoagulation, minor surgery, contraception and vaccinations.
Knowing the pressures that GP surgeries across Wales are currently facing, Darren was keen to speak to the Ruthin doctors to find out about their own experiences.
Commenting after the meeting, he said:
“Anyone who has tried to get an appointment with their GP in recent times will understand just how much they are in demand.
“During my meeting with the GPs in Ruthin we discussed the pressures that they are facing in their practice on a daily basis, and what they would like to see done to help alleviate them.
“It was clear from my time at the surgery just how busy all staff there are, both on the phone and face-to-face.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to all the GPs who took time out of their busy schedule to speak to me and for the useful insight they provided to the challenges GP surgeries are facing across the country.
“I would also like to thank all other staff at the surgery. They are all doing fantastic work, ensuring that residents in Ruthin have access to first-rate medical care.
“I will now feed back all the concerns that were raised with me during the meeting with the Welsh Government's Health Minister.”
