The speed limit outside a rural school is to be reduced after Member of the Senedd for Clwyd West, Darren Millar, called for a highway safety review.

Darren recently made representations to the Denbighshire County Council after being contacted by constituents expressing concern over the safety of pupils and pedestrians attending Ysgol Pant Pastynog in Prion, which is located on a busy junction, where the speed limit is currently 60mph.

In the response received, Denbighshire County Council advise they will now develop plans to introduce a new 20mph speed limit around the school and will distribute further information once proposals are finalised.

Darren said:

“I am pleased that Denbighshire County Council has listened to local concerns and will be introducing a 20mph speed limit immediately outside Ysgol Pant Pastynog.

“The safety of learners and staff at the school is very important and I am hopeful that the implementation of a lower speed limit will bring peace of mind to parents and staff.

"I look forward to visiting once the new speed limit is in place."
