Having made repeated calls over the years for safety works on two dangerous level crossings in his constituency, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives and Clwyd West MS Darren Millar is pleased that they are soon to be replaced with a ramped footbridge.
It was announced last August that a new bridge is to be installed to replace level crossings at Ty Gwyn and Pen Uchaf, Pensarn, and now Network Rail are inviting residents and businesses to attend a drop-in session to find out more and view plans.
This will take place on Wednesday February 26th between 4.30pm and 7.30pm at Abergele Town Council, Llanddulas Road, Abergele, LL22 7BT.
A separate private session will be held for the residents at Ty Gwyn Caravan Park on the afternoon of 26 February.
Encouraging people to attend, Darren said:
“The level crossings are well used by locals and holidaymakers but are a real danger and in 2019 there were sadly two fatalities on the Ty Gwyn crossing. I have long been calling for action to make crossing the railway line safer, so I am thrilled that plans for this new footbridge are progressing well.
“The images show an impressive construction which is visually pleasing, but most importantly it will create a safer way for people to cross the railway by reducing the risk of accidents.
“I would encourage those who want to know more, or who have any questions about the new footbridge, to attend the drop-in session where the plans and images will be available.
“I thank Network Rail for all their work on this project and very much look forward to the opening on the new footbridge.”
