Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed news that two projects in his constituency have been awarded National Lottery grants.
Llanfwrog Community Association CIO in Denbighshire have been awarded £9,995 from The National Lottery Community Fund, whilst Hummingbird Project NWCIC in Conwy have received £10,000. The Community Fund award grants to grassroots projects, as well as making larger awards to tackle big social issues such as improving mental health and tackling homelessness. The majority of their funding is to small, community-based organisations, in fact over 80% of the grants The National Lottery Community Fund award are for £10,000 or less.
Darren said:
“It is great news that a total of £19,995 has been awarded to projects in Clwyd West in July.
“This funding is made possible thanks to National Lottery players so I would like to thank all those who buy tickets.
“Llanfwrog Community Association Charitable Incorporated Organisation in Denbighshire will use their grant to install solar panels to help tackle rising energy costs, whilst The Hummingbird Project NWCIC in Conwy will use their £10,000 grant to establish new premises, enabling them to continue to support local people by sourcing donated items from the community and distributing them to people that need them.
"The Community Fund award money raised by National Lottery players to fund great ideas that help communities to thrive, and both these projects certainly fit these criteria. I congratulate them both of their successful applications and wish them well going forward.”
