Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has applauded a new programme aimed at helping adults improve their confidence with numbers in everyday life.
Darren recently visited those leading the Multiply programme which offers easy access to a wide range of FREE maths courses across North Wales.
Darren was accompanied on the visit by Tom Giffard MS, Shadow Minister for Education and Welsh Language.
Darren said:
“I was very pleased to attend Abergele College to find out more about this innovative new project which is open to adults across North Wales.
“Whether you need help with managing your money, supporting your children with their homework or you want to progress at work, the Multiply programme can help.
“It is primarily aimed at Gwynedd, Ynys Môn, Conwy or Denbighshire county residents aged 19+ that have not achieved a level 2 maths qualification, i.e., GCSE of at least a Grade C or equivalent.
“The eligibility criteria has expanded to include individuals that have achieved a level 2 maths qualification or above but are no longer working at that level and would like to improve their maths skills.
“Having these skills can help people to get a job, progress in their career, or help them to progress to a higher level of learning.
“The courses are held at community venues, in workplaces or as part of a family learning initiative in local primary schools.
“These courses provide a great opportunity for adults, and I urge anyone interested in improving their numeracy skills, to sign up.”
Alex Carter - Multiply Project Engagement Co-ordinator
"It was fantastic to welcome Darren and his team to our Abergele campus and share information about the Multiply project. As the MS for Clwyd West, Darren is an important stakeholder within the communities in which we operate and I’m sure having his support and backing will bring many positives to Multiply.
“Darren and the team were very impressed with the broad range of sessions we have delivered to hundreds of learners across the region and I’d encourage anyone who wants to improve their numeracy skills to get in touch. "
