Three politicians learnt more about the role genetics play in farming when they recently paid a visit to a Ruthin company.
Clwyd West MS and Shadow Minister for North Wales, Darren Millar, accompanied by Shadow Minister for the Economy, Paul Davies MS, and Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs and the Welsh Language, Samuel Kurtz MS, visited Genus which is based in Llanrhdd, Ruthin.
The company supply high-quality breeding animals with desirable characteristics to farmers, enabling them to produce better quality meat and milk more efficiently to feed the world more sustainably.
Their breeding animals’ desirable characteristics include feed efficiency, disease resistance, growth rate, protein and fat content, and fertility.

“Genus aims to provide customers with tailored and sustainable solutions to help produce higher quality milk and meat.
“It was great to hear more about the role genetics play in farming and to undertake a tour of the facilities.”
Sam Kurtz, whose family are cattle farmers, said:
