Darren Millar, MS for Clwyd West, and Sam Rowlands, MS for North Wales have praised the community spirit which led to a chemist in Rhos-on-Sea re-opening after a fire in only five weeks.
Darren and Sam recently attended the official re-opening of Rowlands Pharmacy in Rhos Road.
The pharmacy had a fire in the premises five weeks ago but by the next day they had managed to move operations to another branch nearby. Within a week they were offering a services from a portacabin back in Rhos on Sea.
The chemist , which is the only one in Rhos-on-Sea, after Boots closed its doors, underwent a refit two months ago, to provide an increased level of service.
Darren said:
“I would like to add my congratulations to everyone who helped to ensure that the community of Rhos-on-Sea were not left without a pharmacy service.
“It is really good to see people pulling together when something like this happens and just shows what can be achieved. Well done to everyone involved.”
Sam said:
“I was delighted to be invited to the re-opening and be able to congratulate everyone involved in helping to get the place open and ready for business in such a short time.
“It was heartening to hear how they were able to service the local community despite the fire with help from the local health board, surgeries and other pharmacies. At one stage they even operated from a portacabin.
“Praise must go to Pharmacist, Martyn Warren, his staff and management teams for all their hard work and making sure they kept services running for the local community.”
