Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has welcomed news that Post Office Ltd have decided not to proceed with the proposed move of Abergele Post Office.
Plans had been put forward to move the Abergele branch from its current location on Market Street to Whiteside’s convenience store further down the street. However following a public consultation and after a meeting with Darren and Mayor of Abergele Cllr Sam Rowlands, a decision has been made to retain the Post Office at its current location.
Darren said:
“I was absolutely delighted to receive a letter from Post Office Ltd today confirming that Abergele Post Office will not be moved. The proposals would have led to a prominent town centre building becoming vacant and difficulties in access for some customers if they had been implemented.
“I am extremely pleased that common sense has prevailed and that the Post Office Ltd have listened to the voice of their customers. I would like to thank them for doing this and for meeting with Cllr Rowlands and myself to discuss the matter.”
Cllr Rowlands said:
"This is great news. The plans were met with much anger in the town and a petition with over 760 signatures objecting to the proposed move was put forward. The people of Abergele will thrilled with this outcome.”
