Commenting on the news that 3 ‘never-events’ occurred in February in hospitals run by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, which is in special measures, Darren Millar MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for North Wales said:
“Never-events like these fall far below what is expected of our Welsh NHS and it will be a concern to people across North Wales that there are disproportionately more in the region than elsewhere in Wales.
“The NHS in North Wales is in special measures so Labour Ministers in Cardiff must share responsibility for these failures and act swiftly to address the shortcomings they expose.
“After almost nine years of Welsh Government intervention, it is clear that we urgently need an independent inquiry into the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to ensure that lessons are learned and progress can finally be made."
