There were somersaults and backflips aplenty at an event last weekend to celebrate the opening of a new facility for young people in the Ruthin and Denbigh area.
Clwyd West AM Darren Millar officially opened the Ruthin & Denbigh Gymnastics Club’s ‘Gymnastics Academy and Community Learning Centre’ in Denbigh on Saturday.
With an area of over 5,500 square feet to deliver gymnastics to local gymnasts seven days a week, the new centre will facilitate a much broader range of new classes, as well as allowing expansion of current classes currently situated at Ruthin, Denbigh and Llangollen satellite centres.
In addition to the evening and weekend timetable of Boys and Girls Recreational Artistic Gymnastics and Club Team Gymnastics, the Club will also be developing an ‘I’m In’ disability gymnastics programme, after school gymnastics, boys team gymnastics, teenager, adult and pre-school ‘Stay & Play’ sessions.
Darren said:
“It was an absolute pleasure to open this fantastic new facility for young people.
“The Club already has many talented youngsters on its books and I am sure this development will encourage others to follow suite.
“The Club really is going from strength to strength and I would like to congratulate all those involved in making it such a success, from the young people themselves to the dedicated coaches. I wish them all the very best for the future.”
