Shadow Health Minister and Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has praised progress on the new Primary Care Centre in Colwyn Bay after visiting the site this week.
The new multi million pound facility is being developed on the site of the former Conway Road Primary School and will serve Patients who are currently registered with Rysseldene Surgery, on Conway Road, and Rhoslan Surgery, on Pwllycrochan Avenue.
During his visit, Darren toured the facility with site manager Will Jones and met with representatives of RL Davies, the contractor which is building the scheme, and Haven Health Properties.
Darren said:
“This is going to be an impressive facility, which will host a pharmacy and replace two GP practices in the town, it will be a fantastic asset to the local community.
“I cut the sod for this development less that 12 months ago, so it was great to return this week to see the progress which has been made. I was told everything is going according to plan and the new centre is on schedule to open its doors to patients in June.
“There was a great deal of disappointment when Conway Road Infants School closed it’s doors to pupils in 2011, so it’s great to see the site coming back into public use in this way. I am extremely pleased that this multi-million pound project will provide thousands of patients in the Colwyn Bay area with a modern primary care facility which is fit for the 21st century.”
