Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed Conwy County Borough Council’s decision to save Colwyn Bay Library following a consultation over its future.
The local authority had considered moving the library into the Coed Pella building but opted to scrap changes following a public consultation. Darren wrote to the local authority in April to object to the plans.
Speaking following the announcement Darren said:
“I am absolutely delighted to see that the local authority has listened to local opposition and taken the right decision to maintain Colwyn Bay library in its current location.
“Colwyn Bay library is an important part of our local heritage and a well used asset in the town with parking immediately outside and good disabled access.
“There are also many groups that use the rooms available in the library for their activities, including the local college and community groups, and I also hold regular surgeries for my constituents there."
He added:
“It's now important that the local authority invest in the library to demonstrate their long term commitment to this much loved building.”
