Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has applauded two runners who are completing an epic challenge to raise funds for a cause close to their heart after meeting them on the streets of Abergele at the weekend.
Sean and Steven Mc Cormack were finishing their cooling down walk in Abergele on Saturday after completing a 10k run when they bumped into Darren.
On June 8th, the father and son will be completing their 6th event in the past 12 months (2 ultras and 4 marathons) in memory of Sean’s wife Majella and his nephew Harri to raise funds for the Children's Health Foundation, Temple Street, Dublin.
The 6th event will also be the 100th time Sean will have run the marathon distance (26.2miles) or longer.
Darren said:
“It was a great pleasure to meet Sean and Steven on the sun-drenched streets of Abergele on Saturday, along with Becky Johnson, who was out running with them.
“They have so far completed five of their challenges since June last year and on Saturday will be completing their sixth, a 30 mile run from Hari's resting place in Kentstown to Majella's in Iniskeen.
“I couldn’t believe it when Sean told me that after Saturday’s event, he will have completed 100 marathons – what a remarkable achievement!
“It was good to have a chat with them and to find out what inspired them to complete this gruelling challenge.
“I was also pleased to meet Becky, who recently completed her first marathon, another fantastic achievement.
“I wish Sean and Steven they very best of luck with this weekend’s run and encourage people to support them by donating on their Just Giving page, where you can also find out more about their reasons for taking on the challenge; https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mmmforh
