Commenting on the Assembly Government’s launch of consultation into planning guidance to ensure climate change is taken into consideration in the design of new building projects, Shadow Environment Minister Darren Millar AM said:
“This looks like a last ditch desperate attempt by the Welsh Assembly Government to hit its target to achieve zero carbon emissions from all new buildings by 2011.
“Not a single expert in this field expects them to meet this target and it is likely to become yet another promise that Labour and Plaid will allow to fall by the wayside.
“None of this would be a problem if the Labour-Plaid coalition was able to kiss and make up with the UK Government and agree a timetable for the devolution of power over building regulations.”
