Clwyd West Assembly Member, Darren Millar has today visited Dwr Cymru Welsh Water's state-of-the-art water treatment facility at Alwen.
Mr Millar paid a visit to the works to see for himself the work that has been undertaken as part of £15.5 million investment to ensure customers served by the works continue to receive a first class drinking water supply.
As part of the investment project, the works has seen its water processing tanks refurbished and the final water treatment stages upgraded.
The water treatment works, which is set on the Denbigh Moors, supplies drinking water to 70,000 properties in the Clwyd West and surrounding area.Water treatment has been present at the site since the 1920s when the first treatment works and dam was constructed. In the 1980s a more modern treatment process was introduced at the works with further upgrade and modernisation work taking place between 2010 and 2012.
Nick Jones, Dŵr Cymru's Unit Manager, Production North East, said:
"We were delighted to welcome Mr Millar to our treatment works to show him how recent investment at facilities like Alwen is helping to deliver benefits for customers in the Clwyd West area and the wider environment."
The investment forms part of the £1.5 billion the company is investing in its water and wastewater network up until 2015.

"I am grateful for Welsh Water taking the time to give me a tour of their facility at Alwen.
"The plant provides high quality drinking water for thousands of homes across my constituency and it was fascinating to learn more about the improvements and investment which have been made in recent years.
"Welsh Water plan to spend millions more on improving water quality for my constituents over the next few years and this is very welcome news for the local economy."
