Clwyd West MS Darren Millar is encouraging grassroots community groups in Conwy and Denbighshire to apply for funding from the National Lottery ‘Awards for All’ which is now providing grants of up to £20,000.
Community projects in Wales can now apply for funding between £300 and £20,000 to support their projects for up to two years, an increase from the current £10,000 over one year.
These changes to National Lottery ‘Awards for All’ deliver the promise and ambition of their new strategy, It starts with Community, launched in June this year.
Welcoming the increase in funding and encouraging community groups in his constituency to apply, Darren said:
"This is the biggest change to National Lottery funding for a generation.
“Their new report, Small Grants Big Impact, shows that over the last year, 82% of National Lottery grants were made for £10,000 and under – supporting grassroots organisations at the heart of communities all over Wales.
“Looking back further, over the last five years, there has been £3 billion awarded in almost 76,000 small grants, reaching communities across the UK. Each year, over 3.1 million people benefit from a National Lottery Awards for All project.
“I know a great many groups in Clwyd West have benefitted from National Lottery funding over the years, and I am keen to ensure that others do too.
“I am sure there are many groups out there with fantastic ideas who are just lacking the funding to bring them to life. I would urge such groups to apply now, you’ve got nothing to lose.
