Commenting on the news that plans to remove staff at night from two north Wales fire stations have been rejected by the fire authority, Shadow North Wales Minister, Darren Millar MS said:
“I am pleased to hear that the barmy plans to downgrade fire stations in Rhyl and Deeside have been shelved, for now.
“It is essential that the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service improves its engagement with the Fire Brigades Union, elected representatives, the public and other key stakeholders when developing proposals for change in the future.
“Minutes cost lives so it is vital that 24/7 cover is maintained at key locations on the North Wales coast so that crews can respond to fires, floods and other emergencies in a timely manner.”
