Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar exchanged knowledge and ideas about climate change with Denbighshire school children last week when they celebrated ‘Go Green Day’ with a variety of fun activities.

Pupils at Ysgol Pen Barras in Ruthin had a day of green action on Friday when they wore green and set up stalls selling recycled toys to mark the annual event.

On Go Green Day, schools, offices and community groups across Wales take part, helping spread climate change awareness and raising funds for Size of Wales’ forest projects across Africa and South America.

Darren visited the school to join in the celebrations.

He said:  

“The annual Go Green Day is always a fun, positive and solution-focused day where children are given the opportunity to share their knowledge and ideas about climate change. 

“It was great to spend this year’s Go Green Day with the pupils at Ysgol Pen Barrass, who were very switched on about the changes that are occurring to the climate and the effects of these changes; I was very impressed.  

“They had great fun recycling their old toys, and I had great fun playing with them; as a Star Wars fan I went straight for the light sabre!”

Head Teacher Marc Jones said:

“The pupils had a great day celebrating Go Green Day with Darren and really enjoyed coming to school in their green clothes and recycling their old toys. All proceeds raised from the stalls will help towards saving the rainforests.”
