Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has welcomed news that community groups in Conwy and Denbighshire are to benefit from the latest round of National Lottery funding.
Thanks to players of the National Lottery, the Big Lottery Fund has been able to give grants to communities across Wales totalling 408,983.
This month 65 communities have been successful in their applications with projects aimed at improving lives and helping people feel part of their communities.
In Conwy, The Jazz Warriors Limited will spend 7,700 on a six month music and social skills programme, aimed at assisting young adults who are experiencing marginalisation and loneliness, whilst in Denbighshire Broken Wings applied to improve the facilities at the Wild Bird Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre. They will spend 4,847 raising awareness of wild life and eco-systems in the area and offering volunteering opportunities.
Darren said:
“I am delighted to hear that communities in my constituency are to benefit from this latest round of funding.
“The Big Lottery Fund supports the aspirations of people who want to make life better for their communities and it is responsible for giving out 40% of the money raised by the National Lottery. It has already had a significant impact on communities across Clwyd West and I am keen to see more groups from this area benefit in the future.”
Gareth Williams, National Lottery Awards for All Funding Manager said:
