A "radical overhaul" is needed to tackle school bullying, the children's commissioner for Wales has said in a new report.

Responding to the findings, Darren Millar AM, Welsh Conservative Shadow Education and Children’s Secretary, said:

“I welcome the commissioner’s report which raises the curtain on the collective inadequacy of Welsh schools in properly protecting children from bullying in all its forms.

“With the exception of a few best practice examples, such as the anti-bullying conferences in Conwy, the Welsh school curriculum lacks a standardised approach in how it records, defines and combats bullying.

“We need a zero tolerance approach to bullying in Welsh schools and the Cabinet Secretary would do well to take heed of the Commissioner’s recommendations and integrate them into her work.”
