Clwyd West AM Darren Millar is calling on Conwy County Borough Council to consider showing all the Euro 2016 Wales games on big screens in Colwyn Bay.
Swansea and Cardiff Council’s have announced that they will be showing all Wales’ games on big screens in city centre 'fm fan zones' to enable football fans who are not heading to France to watch their team play and Darren is keen for Conwy County Borough Council to do the same.
He said:
“I think it is fantastic that Swansea and Cardiff Councils are embracing Euro 2016 and getting behind the Wales team in this way and it would be great to see a similar thing happening here in North Wales.
“There will be many Wales fans who will be unable to make it out to France but who would love to watch the game surrounded by other supporters in an atmospheric setting. This could be so easily achieved by installing big screens in the heart of the North Wales coast in Colwyn Bay. Parc Eirias, Porth Eirias and the town centre are all potential venues.
“Wales have not played in a major tournament since 1958 so this is a momentous occasion which should be properly celebrated. The Wales squad have done fantastic to qualify and as a country we must get behind them in every way possible. Conwy County Borough Council should seriously consider my proposal.”
