Commenting on the passing of a motion on protecting doctor-led maternity services at hospitals in North Wales, in which the Welsh Government abstained, Darren Millar AM, Shadow Minister for Health, said:

“I welcome the fact that not a single Assembly Member voted against our motion to protect maternity services from the threat of downgrading.

“This sends a clear message to the North Wales health board that their plans are not supported by clinicians, politicians or the public and they must now return to the drawing board and reinstate maternity services at all three North Wales hospitals."
