Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has been remembering the Holocaust this week which killed more than six million Jews at the hands of the Nazi regime and its collaborators.
On Sunday Darren met with Dr Martin Stern MBE, a survivor of Westerbork and Theresienstadt concentration camps, at a Holocaust Memorial event in Emmanuel Christian Centre in Llandudno.
Dr Stern told the hundreds who gathered about his tragic story just days before Holocaust Memorial Day (27 January), a national commemoration day in the United Kingdom dedicated to the remembrance of those who suffered in the Holocause, and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
Darren, who also signed a Holocaust Memorial Book in the Senedd this week, said:
"It is vital that we remember the millions of people killed in the Holocaust and it was an absolute privilege to meet with Martin on Sunday. His story was a sad but powerful reminder of why it is crucial for us to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
“As well as speaking at Sunday’s event, Martin has also been speaking to hundreds of children in four local high schools.
“Everyone should learn lessons from Nazi persecution and subsequent genocides in order to challenge hatred and create a safer future.”
