Civil engineering firm Jones Bros has shared its plans for growth over the next five years with Welsh Assembly Member for Clwyd West Darren Millar.

Jones Bros’ chairman and owner Huw Jones and managing director John Dielhof welcomed Darren to the contractor’s head office in Ruthin.

Darren was provided with a briefing on projects currently under way across the UK, and informed of the firm’s plans to increase its workforce over the next four years.

He also learned about Jones Bros’ ambitious plans to develop its training and apprenticeship programme. It currently has 27 young people training on its plant operative and general constructions operations schemes, its largest ever intake of trainees.

“It’s encouraging to hear their plans for expansion and growth, and I congratulate them on their efforts to provide opportunities to young people from across North Wales.”

Huw Jones said: “Jones Bros has a number of important projects on the horizon, including the A487 Caernarfon to Bontnewydd Bypass in North Wales.

“We’re working hard to ensure we have a strong, skilled workforce to take on our workload over the coming years.

“A significant part of our vision for growth is in investing in our in-house training and apprenticeship programme, and we’re looking at different ways of providing new opportunities to young people in North Wales.”

Founded in the 1950s and employing 350 people, Jones Bros has grown significantly in the last decade. It is currently working on contracts including the construction of waste management facilities, highways, flood and marine defence and renewable energy projects around the UK.
