Commenting on today’s launch of the Assembly Government’s sustainable development scheme, Shadow Environment Minister Darren Millar AM said:
“The minister has yet to fulfil her pledges on the devolution of building regulations and new powers over large energy developments, environmental protection, and waste management. Without these there is little prospect of delivery on today's pledges.
“While we welcome any move by the Assembly Government to make Wales a more sustainable nation, promises are no good unless they are fulfilled.
“Some of these commitments will require action from local authorities and other public bodies as delivery partners.
“In a year of appalling local government settlements, the minister is banking on councils delivering on waste and on a more sustainable transport system while at the same time the Assembly Government is cutting grants for bus services.
“What we really need is action rather than more hollow promises.”
