Clwyd West AM Darren Millar joined staff and volunteers at Abergele Tesco on Friday to support their efforts to collect food to help people in need.
As part of its partnership with the Trussell Trust and FareShare, Tesco held its fifth National Food Collection and Darren was on hand to encourage volunteers who were accepting shoppers' donations.
Darren said:
"I am very pleased to lend my support to this extremely worthy cause. Tesco shoppers were extremely generous and I would like to thank everyone who donated food items.
“The foodbank in Abergele does a fantastic job of supporting people who find themselves in a desperate situation and I want to pay tribute to the dedication of volunteers, many of whom are from local churches, for their efforts.”
Tesco hold two national collections each year and foodbanks can also hold local collections throughout the year in its stores. During the food collections thousands of Tesco staff take part in helping to collect and sort the food. Tesco tops up all donations by 30%.
