Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar was on hand at a Conwy supermarket this week to help collect food for those in need.
Darren visited Tesco in Abergele on Friday to help with their annual food collection, which took place between November 29th and December 1st .
Thanks to Tesco’s ongoing partnership with The Trussell Trust and FareShare, and the generosity of their customers, their last collection was a huge success and they were able to provide more than 3.34 million meals to people in need.
Darren said: ”I was very pleased to lend my support to this extremely worthy cause. Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income.
“Tesco Food Collection does a fantastic job of supporting people who find themselves in a desperate situation and since starting their collections in December 2012, have donated 49 million meals to help FareShare and The Trussell Trust support people in need across the UK. Tesco shoppers in Abergele were extremely generous and I would like to thank everyone who donated food items.”
